Steps Forward In Roofing & Rehabilitation Project Of Imam Ali's Outer Courtyard


In view of the importance of the Holy City of Kadhimiya, and the increasing number of visitors, and as part of a series of projects to expand and rehabilitate the Kadhimain Holy Courtyards, under the guidance of the KHS Secretary General, Dr. Haider H. Al-Shammari, the KHS Engineering & Technical staff made steps forward in roofing & rehabilitation project of Imam Ali's (AS) outer courtyard, Which is located on the northern side of the Kadhimain Holy Courtyard.
Eng. Nadia Fouad Al-'Asam, the head of the project's supervising committee, stated to our website: “This project was initiated under the guidance of the Secretary-General, Dr. Haider Al-Shammari, in order to provide new roofed and well serviced areas.
The first phase of the project, the courtyard infrastructure phase, was completed with direct implementation by the KHS Engineering Affairs Department staff in cooperation with the Electromechanical Department staff.
This stage included lighting installation, electric power, security monitoring, communication network, Audio, switchboard systems, water pipes and drinking water systems (RO).
The roofing work on the courtyard's left side was completed. It included the installation of the bases, columns, and beams for the roof's iron structure, as well as the installation of (k-span) panels.
The iron structure of the right side roof is currently being worked on so that the covered area of the courtyard on both sides would be approximately (6,400 m2).”
"The next phase of work”, she continued, “will be to install an iron fence surrounding the courtyard with entrance gates for visitors. Concerning the final phase, the floor beneath the roofs will be covered with marble, with water fountains designed to provide a pleasant atmosphere for visitors and to add aesthetics to the holy courtyard.”
