The four minarets gilding project, being executed by Al-Kawther Holy Shrines Construction Enterprise, under direct supervision by the Engineering Dept., is witnessing a considerable progress.

In a statement to the official website of the Kadhimain Holy Shrine, Eng. Hamid Ibrahim, member of the supervising committee said: “The technical staff has achieved the advanced phases of work in the north west minaret where the rate of achievement reached 80%, in the south west minaret with 60% of work achieved and in the south east minaret with 50% of work achieved. The old gilded tiles were removed and the minaret walls were renovated by applying modern engineering techniques, putting into consideration their old structure and the long period of neglect they experienced. Therefore, they were in need of careful maintenance, coating and processing with certain materials. This phase was considered the most important one that must precede fixing the new gilded tiles”.

“The process of manufacturing tiles from copper of different sizes and shapes, and then gilding them with gold standard (24) were all performed according to approved engineering designs. All manufactured tiles undergo quality control and standardization tests and are executed with instructions by the Secretariat General of the Kadhimain Holy Shrine to maintain the heritage and spiritual aspects of the place”. The Engineer continued.
